Capital's Green Agenda: Saida Mirziyoyeva Sets Priorities for Public Space Development
Uzbekistan
Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan, inspected several urban sites earmarked for the development of parks and public spaces. The review focused on expanding green areas, improving accessibility, and upgrading existing urban infrastructure.
During the visit, plans were presented to make the park on Afrosiyob Street fully accessible to all visitors. The programme also includes the renovation of Sayilgoh Street, Amir Temur Avenue and the surrounding area, as well as the expansion of Babur Ecopark and Mirzo Ulugbek Park.
According to Mirziyoyeva, while Tashkent continues to grow rapidly, the shortage of green public spaces remains a major urban challenge. She said that creating new parks and expanding urban greenery should remain among the city's key development priorities.
She also stressed that the objective is to restore Tashkent's status as a green city by creating more public spaces for recreation and walking, further developing an accessible urban environment, improving safety, and making more efficient use of existing infrastructure. According to Mirziyoyeva, these measures should be implemented without delay to support a high quality of life for the city's residents.
