Chinese envoy urges West to stop arms to Ukraine

China's permanent representative to the UN, Zhang Jun, has said that some Western countries should stop supplying weapons to Ukraine.
According to Zhang Jun, these countries should stop fuelling the conflict and not hinder the diplomatic efforts of the international community. He also called on the North Atlantic Alliance to abandon its policy of unilateral sanctions and slander.
Zhang Jun's statement was made in the context of information about the Kremlin's interest in diplomatic dialogue to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The Permanent Representative also emphasised the importance of the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
"Unfortunately, most of the provisions of the agreement have still not been implemented, and large-scale conflicts broke out later. This is regrettable and deserves serious reflection on all sides," Zhang Jun noted.
The diplomat also noted that the security interests of all countries must be equal: one country's security cannot be ensured at the expense of another's, and regional stability cannot be achieved by increasing military forces or expanding military groupings.
