Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen Resigns After Election Loss
On March 25, Frederiksen officially submitted a resignation request to King Frederik X after her three-party coalition suffered a heavy defeat in the general elections.

According to The Guardian, Frederiksen’s Social Democrats received 21.9% of the vote, marking their worst result in a century. The Socialist People’s Party (SF) gained 11.6%, while the Venstre Party received 10.1%. Other political forces did not exceed 10% support.

The resignation is a standard democratic procedure initiating the formation of a new Cabinet. Frederiksen will continue as acting Prime Minister during the transition and is considered a leading candidate for the role in the next government.
