Death toll of UN staff in Gaza rises to 132
Since 7 October, 132 employees of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. This is according to a statement by the organisation.

The Beit Lahiya area, where displaced Palestinians have taken refuge, and two schools in northern Gaza were reportedly directly hit on 4 December. In addition, two other schools in the Deir al-Balaha and Nusayrat neighbourhoods were indirectly hit. Following the deaths of two more UNRWA staff members on 5 December, the number of UNRWA staff killed in the Gaza Strip reached 132.

It is noted that 1.9 million Palestinians, representing 85 per cent of the population of the Gaza Strip, have fled their homes, and as of 5 December, 1.2 million Palestinians had sought refuge in 155 UNRWA facilities. It is reported that 1 million Gazans are living in 98 UNRWA facilities in the central Gaza Strip and in the towns of Khan Yunis and Rafah in the south of the region. However, 64 of the 98 UNRWA facilities are located in Khan Yunis and Rafah.
