On June 3-4 of this year, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the international specialized exhibition "Belagro - 2024" are taking place in the cities of Minsk and Nesvizh in the Republic of Belarus, according to the press secretary of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
It was reported that on June 3, the delegation of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the city of Minsk to participate in these events as an observer.
First, a plenary session on "Food Security of the Eurasian Economic Union" was held at the China-Belarus Industrial Park "Great Stone."
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Prime Ministers of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, and the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan as an honorary guest.
At the event, it was noted that today the issue of food security is becoming extremely relevant for every state. Due to certain objective factors, disruptions in the supply chain of agricultural products are observed, leading to rising prices, irreversible deterioration of cultivated lands as a result of global climate change, reduction of land and water resources, and excessive use of chemicals and fertilizers.
The necessity of consolidating efforts to sustainably ensure the region's population with quality food products and effectively counter various challenges and threats was emphasized.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, spoke at the plenary session.
It was noted that the Uzbek side has established cooperation with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union in the areas of joint production, supply of agricultural crops and food, development of "green" corridors, conducting scientific and applied research, and implementing innovations in agriculture.
As part of the visit to Belarus, the delegation of the Government of Uzbekistan familiarized themselves with the activities of the international specialized exhibition "Belagro - 2024" and participated in the flower-laying ceremony at the "Mound of Glory" memorial complex.
