Danish authorities have sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s renewed remarks about annexing Greenland, calling the rhetoric disrespectful and unfounded.

Denmark Urges Trump to Stop Threats Over Greenland
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has urged U.S. President Donald Trump to refrain from making threats related to Greenland. She said such statements undermine allied relations and violate norms of international discourse.

The reaction followed Trump’s comments on Sunday, in which he once again described Greenland as strategically vital to U.S. national security. He claimed the island is surrounded by Russian and Chinese vessels and argued that Denmark is incapable of ensuring its defense.

Danish officials dismissed the remarks as baseless and alarming, particularly amid recent U.S. actions in Venezuela, including strikes on targets inside the country.

Denmark and the United States are NATO allies. However, the idea of acquiring Greenland has become a recurring theme in Trump’s rhetoric during his second term. Both the Danish government and Greenland’s autonomous authorities have repeatedly rejected any territorial claims by Washington.
