Iran, Russia and China are set to hold joint naval drills in the waters of the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean, a region of major strategic importance for global trade and security.
The exercises carry added geopolitical significance as the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, along with its strike group, is currently deployed in the same area.
The drills are seen as a demonstration of coordination and military cooperation among the three countries. Tehran, Moscow and Beijing have previously conducted similar naval exercises, emphasizing maritime security and freedom of navigation.
