President Orders Programme to Be Prepared for Berdakh Qargabay Uly’s 200th Anniversary

Next year will mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Berdakh Qargabay Uly, the great son of the Karakalpak people, poet and thinker. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of preserving and promoting his legacy, particularly among young people.
The President noted that Berdakh’s words of wisdom — “Always serve the people, do not think of yourself, care for the people” — remain relevant today. He stressed the importance of studying, digitizing and preserving the scholarly and creative heritage of great intellectuals and making it accessible to the people, especially the younger generation.
A proposal was made to mark the 200th anniversary of Berdakh Qargabay Uly’s birth in Uzbekistan next year. Relevant officials were instructed to develop a comprehensive programme within one month and begin its implementation.
The meeting also heard reports from regional and sector leaders and included a dialogue with representatives of Karakalpakstan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Amanbay Orinbayev, Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, was awarded the special rank of Major General by the President. The rank was conferred in recognition of his long and effective service in the internal affairs system, contribution to the comprehensive development of Karakalpakstan, efforts to ensure the welfare, security and peaceful life of the population, and his work to preserve and strengthen mutual respect, unity and harmony in society.
