Deposits of rare earth metals have been discovered in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan announced the discovery of one of the world's largest deposits of rare earth elements. The deposit, which received the name "New Kazakhstan," was discovered in the Karaganda region. According to preliminary data, the deep layers contain up to 20 million tons of raw materials with a concentration of rare earth elements of about 700 grams per ton.

The identified resources include cerium, lanthanum, neodymium, and yttrium, which are widely used in the production of electronics: from smartphones to solar panels.

According to official information from the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, four promising areas with a total reserve of more than 935 thousand tons of rare earth metals have been identified. If the estimates are confirmed, Kazakhstan could be among the top three countries with the largest reserves of such resources.

The opening ceremony took place on the eve of the EU-Central Asia summit, which analysts consider a strategic move. The EU has already expressed its readiness to expand cooperation with Kazakhstan in the field of geological exploration and rare earth materials. EU Ambassador Aleshka Simkich noted: "This statement has increased the significance of Kazakhstan in the context of critical raw materials."

According to experts, the development of the deposit may take up to 12 years and require about $10 million in investments. Kazakhstan also needs to establish technological processing of rare earth elements - such capacities are not yet available in the country.

Experts suggest that China and the European Union could become Kazakhstan's main international partners. However, the key problem remains logistics: for stable exports, it is necessary to develop the infrastructure of the Middle Corridor connecting Central Asia and Europe.
