Elon Musk Becomes First Person in History Worth $500 Billion
Business
Elon Musk has set another record: for the first time in history, a person’s wealth has reached the $500 billion mark, according to Forbes Real-Time Billionaires.
The peak was recorded on October 1 at 3:30 p.m. ET, before adjusting slightly down to $499.5 billion and later $499.1 billion.
The main driver was Tesla stock, which rose nearly 4%, boosting Musk’s fortune by about $9.3 billion. Since April, after Musk stepped down as curator of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Tesla shares have nearly doubled in value.
Back in December 2024, Musk had already set a historic milestone by becoming the first person to surpass $400 billion. Analysts at Informa Connect Academy predict that if current growth rates continue, Musk could become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027.
