Shavkat Mirziyoyev calls for development of entrepreneurship and homestead farming

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with governors of Namangan, Andijan and Fergana regions, as well as with responsible persons of the economic complex in the city of Namangan on 25 March. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
Measures to increase the population's income based on the experience of Saikhunabad were discussed, including by utilising the potential of homestead lands and households.
Responsible persons were instructed to establish close co-operation with each enterprise, entrepreneur and household.
It is reported that employees of administrations and all economic departments will analyse opportunities in households, for example, to create a model of effective use of homestead plots to increase income to 60-70 million sums.
People with craft skills will be assisted in acquiring materials, equipment and working capital. Those who wish to engage in entrepreneurship will be helped to develop business plans.
It is stated that commercial banks should be actively involved in this process. That is, they should support in every possible way the creation of additional jobs on the basis of the enterprises they serve.
Also emphasised is the undiscovered potential of homestead plots and agricultural land allocated to the population to grow various fruits and vegetables for export, as well as the development of livestock, poultry, fish farming and beekeeping, which will improve the welfare of households.
