Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Azerbaijan was forced to conduct a counter-terrorism operation in Karabakh. TASS reports this.
“Unfortunately, nothing was done to address Azerbaijan’s legitimate concerns in Karabakh. For this reason, they had to carry out an operation. With this victory for Azerbaijan, the possibility of complete normalization in the region has opened up. We expect Armenia to respond with the extended hand of peace,” - said the Turkish leader after negotiations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"In a peaceful settlement, no one loses. Our duty to our people is to ensure peace, tranquility and prosperity in the region. We do this firmly and sincerely. We want our colleagues to show the same sincerity," Erdogan said.
The Turkish President called the operation carried out by Azerbaijan “an important event for the region.”
He noted that the operation of the Azerbaijani army was carried out “in a very short time and with maximum attention to [the safety of] civilians.”
