Erdogan: There is almost no place called Gaza anymore
As a result of Israeli strikes, the Gaza Strip has been almost completely destroyed. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.

"So far 13,000 Palestinian children, women and old people have been killed. The place called Gaza is almost gone, everything is destroyed there," the Turkish leader said.

Erdogan called on Berlin to join forces with Turkey to achieve humanitarian peace in the Gaza Strip. This, he said, would provide an opportunity to "save the region from this ring of fire."

"Israel is killing thousands of Palestinians, attacking hospitals, places of worship, churches. As a Muslim, I am concerned about this. Aren't you as a Christian concerned about the destruction of these churches? Why do you not speak out against these actions? We should not make a distinction between Jews, Christians and Muslims," the Turkish leader added.

President Erdogan rejected attempts to portray the events of 7 October as the "starting point" of the current situation in the Gaza Strip.

"The period after 7 October is not discussed at all. Can Hamas' weapons and power be compared to Israel's?" the president said.
