EU €50bn will not solve Ukraine's problems
Economy
According to the World Bank, Ukraine needs $411bn to rebuild in the long term.
According to Politico, the EU's €50bn granted to Kiev until 2027 seems to be an insignificant sum in the context of the country's serious problems. Experts note that payments of 1.02bn euros per month, as stipulated in the new aid package, mean that Ukraine's financing will be reduced by one and a half times compared to 2023. The International Monetary Fund forecasts that the country's financing deficit this year will exceed $40bn.
Ukraine needs $411bn for long-term recovery, according to the World Bank. For Kiev, the main risk is a possible fall into an inflationary hole due to the lack of aid, which would probably force it to print significant amounts of new money, the article argues.
