Exhibition "Uzbekistan: Avant-garde in the Desert" opens in Italy
The exhibition "Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert" will present to Italian and international audiences an important, albeit little-known chapter of the history of art from the first half of the 20th century.

It includes two sections that will take place in two venues: "Form and Symbol" at the exposition space of the University of Ca Foscari, Venice, and "Light and Colour" at the Palazzo Pitti, Florence.

The project was created with the support of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and curated by Silvia Burini and Giuseppe Barbieri from the Centre for the Study of Russian Art at the University of Ca Foscari (CSAR).

The exhibitions will feature more than 172 paintings and drawings created in the first half of the 20th century, as well as objects of national decorative and applied art from the collections of the Igor Savitsky State Museum of Arts of Karakalpakstan and the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan.

A section of the exhibition "Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert" "Light and Colour" will be open in Florence at Palazzo Pitti from 16 April to 30 June 2024

"Form and Symbol" will be open from 17 April to 29 September 2024 in the exhibition space of the University of Ca Foscari in Venice.
