Cutugno, whose star shone with the hit "L'italiano" presented at the 1983 Sanremo Festival, has passed away due to a long illness, aggravated in recent months. His death left the music world in grief.

Salvatore Cutugno, the real name of the singer, was born on July 7, 1943 in Fosdinovo, a small town in Tuscany. The times of the Second World War were imprinted on his childhood, but soon his family moved to the Liguria region.

A penchant for music manifested itself in him from childhood. In the 1960s, supported by his family, he started his musical career playing drums in the band "Toto e i Tati" and later founded his own band "Albatross".

Cutugno began his solo career in the late 1970s and won the hearts of fans with the albums "Voglio l'anima" (1979), "La mia musica" (1981) and "L'Italiano" (1983). He also won the San Remo Festival in 1980 and the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 in Zagreb.

In addition to his own career, Cutugno has written songs for famous artists such as Joe Dassin, Mireille Mathieu and Adriano Celentano. Throughout his life, he remained a symbol of Italian music and left an unforgettable mark on world culture.
