Fergana International Airport plans to expand its capacity

During his visit to the Fergana Region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the development concept for Fergana International Airport.
The airport's current terminal has been in operation for over thirty years. Its capacity, passenger comfort, and potential for developing aviation and non-aviation services no longer fully meet modern requirements.
Therefore, a comprehensive development of the airport's infrastructure is planned. The project aims to expand the airport's flight network and improve service quality, taking into account the region's growing economic activity and increasing tourist flow.
The presentation addressed issues such as extending and widening the runway, modernizing airfield infrastructure, and constructing new passenger and cargo terminals.
The new passenger terminal, with an area of approximately 20,000 square meters, will be able to handle up to 1,200 passengers—double its current capacity. Additional aircraft parking will also be created, increasing the airport's capacity to 10 aircraft.
The new terminal features spacious waiting rooms, modern service areas, convenient check-in and security systems, and dedicated facilities for high-ranking guests.
The head of state emphasized that the airport is the gateway to any region and provided recommendations for organizing modern service and developing transport and related infrastructure.
The importance of designing, constructing, and subsequently managing the new terminal in accordance with international standards, with the involvement of experienced foreign operators, was emphasized.
It was noted that the project's implementation will strengthen the Fergana Valley's transport connectivity, increase tourism, and enhance the region's role as a logistics hub.
This concluded the President's visit to the Fergana Region. The head of state returned to Tashkent.
