Finding an Honest Minister in Kyrgyzstan “Almost Impossible” — Japarov
Political
Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov stated that he faces widespread corruption when selecting candidates for ministerial posts: nine out of ten candidates he proposed were involved in corrupt schemes.
According to Japarov, every time he proposed a candidate for a ministerial position, accusations emerged: one was “involved in that case,” another was labeled a “corruption scheme.” As a result, the president questioned whether even a single clean candidate remains in the country: “If there are ten — each in their own way, if forty — even worse.”
The head of state emphasized that the personnel selection problem is exacerbated by the prevalence of corrupt practices, making it nearly impossible to form an honest and effective government. These statements highlight the scale of the challenge Kyrgyzstan faces in forming its executive branch.
