From American Business to Regional Leadership: Jakhongir Mamajonov Takes Key Post in Tashkent Region

The management team of the capital region is undergoing a large-scale transformation oriented toward attracting international experience and strengthening the industrial sector. The administration of the Tashkent Region has announced a series of key personnel shuffles affecting not only the regional khokimiyat's leadership but also strategic agencies and major industrial cities. The most widely discussed decision is the recruitment of a top manager from the United States into the public sector, highlighting a new course toward rigid economic pragmatism and the active pursuit of foreign investment.
The press service of the Tashkent Regional Khokimiyat has announced a series of major personnel appointments. Jakhongir Mamajonov (b. 1972) has become the Deputy Khokim of the region and Head of the Department of Investments, Industry, and Trade. Prior to returning to Uzbekistan, the economist and financier by training served as the CEO of JM Group, a company registered in the United States.
Additionally, in accordance with a special presidential decree, a new post was established in the region: Deputy Khokim for the Development of Industrial Enterprises. It was assumed by Ruslan Kunarov (b. 1986), who previously worked as a production advisor at Bio Korm.
Significant reshuffles also occurred at the local municipal level. The former khokim of Almalyk, Kobil Hamdamov, took charge of the Nurafshan administration, replacing Ilkhom Klichkhanov. In turn, Barkhayot Meliev, who previously headed the regional ecology department, became the new khokim of Almalyk.
The personnel changes extended to related agencies as well. Iskandar Agzamkhodjaev, former head of the "Tashkent-AERO" customs complex, was appointed Head of the Tashkent Regional Customs Department. Dilshod Rasulov became the head of the regional project office for industrial cooperation under the corresponding Agency. Furthermore, Doniyor Abdujalilov was appointed as the representative of the Chamber of Accounts of Uzbekistan to the regional khokimiyat.
