The Uzgarish mahalla is becoming a space for real change

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the construction work in the Uzgarish mahalla in the Sergeli district, as well as the operations of the retail and service facilities located beneath the elevated metro line.
Consistent reforms aimed at ensuring human interests and the well-being of the population are now clearly reflected in the appearance of the mahallas and their daily lives.
The Uzgarish mahalla is a prime example of such transformations. It comprises 45 apartment buildings and 1,620 apartments, home to over 6,700 residents.
Here, problems that had accumulated over many years have been gradually addressed, modern infrastructure and a comfortable social environment have been created. Specifically, 10 children's playgrounds, a mini-football field, and two health zones have been built.
The head of state inspected the operations of the modern cogeneration center established in the mahalla.
This center will facilitate a stable heat and electricity supply to the mahalla during the autumn and winter. Cogeneration technology first generates electricity from natural gas and then uses the resulting heat to heat water and homes. This increases energy efficiency and reduces losses.
The total cost of the project was $5.8 million. The center is equipped with modern German-made gas piston units and boilers. Its production capacity is 18.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 80,000 gigacalories of thermal energy per year.
As part of the project, a two-kilometer high-voltage power line connected to the main grid was built. As a result, the load on the district's central power grid was reduced by 3 percent. The commissioning of the center created 10 permanent jobs.
In addition, the mahalla's infrastructure was completely renovated. 1.4 kilometers of pedestrian paths were built, the facades of 12 apartment buildings were repaired, and internal roads were paved. 2,720 ornamental trees and shrubs have been planted to enhance the area's greenery.
The President held a warm conversation with representatives of the "seven" mahalla and activists. It was noted that the transformations carried out here were the result of efforts aimed at creating decent living conditions for people and transforming the mahalla into a well-maintained and safe space.
"Our large-scale creative work began precisely with this Sergeli district. It's no secret that when we first proposed building a modern metro line here, there were those who doubted the prospects of this major project.
However, today, seeing such beautiful and well-maintained places, and most importantly, the satisfied faces of our dear compatriots, we are once again convinced of the correctness of our chosen path.
The purpose of our visit today is to directly communicate with you and hear your proposals and initiatives," the President said.

In modern urban development, it is important to rationally utilize existing infrastructure and transform unused areas into comfortable and economically viable spaces. To this end, the 5.7-hectare area beneath the elevated metro line was completely renovated.
137 businesses are located there, creating 250 new jobs. Four kilometers of pedestrian and bicycle paths, two children's playgrounds, and sports areas have been constructed beneath the metro line. 100 benches and 40 modern decorative lamps have been installed for residents to relax.
