Hamas to Skip Qatar Ceasefire Talks but May Meet Mediators Later
The U.S. has confirmed that indirect talks will proceed as planned in Qatar's capital Doha on Thursday, with a ceasefire agreement still possible, while emphasizing the urgent need for progress to prevent a broader conflict.

Representing the U.S. in the talks will be CIA Director William Burns and Special Envoy for the Middle East Brett McGurk. Israel is sending its delegation, including intelligence chief David Barnea and other senior officials, to finalize the details of the agreement.

Hamas has expressed skepticism about the talks, accusing Israel of stalling. However, the group’s chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, based in Doha, maintains open channels with Egypt and Qatar.

Hamas reiterated its demands and stated that it expects a serious response from Israel through the mediators. Should this response be received, the group indicated it is willing to meet with mediators after Thursday’s session.
