Houthis Announce Naval Blockade of Saudi Arabia

Yemen's Houthi movement, officially known as Ansar Allah, has announced the imposition of a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia, saying the move is a response to the blockade of Yemeni ports and attacks on Sana'a International Airport. At the time of publication, Saudi authorities had not issued an official response.
The announcement was made by the group's military spokesperson Yahya Saree, who said the blockade took effect immediately upon the publication of the statement. According to him, the decision was made on the principle of "an eye for an eye" in response to Saudi actions against Yemen.
The movement maintains that the Yemeni people have the right to defend themselves against what it describes as an ongoing military campaign and blockade. Earlier, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi accused Saudi Arabia of cooperating with the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel, and warned that further escalation could lead to attacks on the kingdom's oil infrastructure and other strategic facilities.
So far, Saudi Arabia has not publicly commented on the Houthi statements.
