Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will run in the country's parliamentary elections to be held on 8 February. This was announced by the chairman of the opposition party Movement for Justice, Gohar Khan.
Gohar Khan said that the jailed former Prime Minister will run in three constituencies of Pakistan - Islamabad, Lahore and Mianwali.
Experts say Imran Khan will have to fight a long legal battle to contest the elections. He is technically eligible to enter parliament, but he has many cases pending against him.
Imran Khan was arrested by police on 5 August after a court issued a warrant for his arrest in a corruption case.
On 29 August, a court in Pakistan suspended the three-year jail sentence against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, ordering his release on bail. However, Khan was arrested again on 30 August on charges of "divulging state secrets".
