Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili declared in a special press conference that she does not recognize the official results of the parliamentary elections.
Zourabichvili stated that acknowledging these election results would mean approving the "arrival of Russia and the subjugation of Georgia." She called on opposition supporters to gather for a rally on the evening of October 28. “I did not come to this country for this. Our ancestors did not live for this, and we do not accept it. No one can take away Georgia's European future,” she said in her statement.
The Central Election Commission reported that the ruling party, “Georgian Dream,” received 53.9% of the votes, with four opposition parties advocating for closer ties with the West also clearing the election threshold. "United National Movement" and "Coalition for Change" announced shortly after the polls closed that the elections were "stolen." The "Strong Georgia" party echoed this sentiment soon after, and all three movements announced they would forfeit their parliamentary seats.
