Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 26. According to the Central Election Commission, the ruling Georgian Dream party, which supports maintaining relations with Russia and opposes sanctions against Russia, received 53.93% of the vote. Four opposition parties also entered Parliament, receiving a total of 37.78% of votes.

Representatives of the opposition said that they do not recognize the results of the elections. Pascal Alizar, Special Coordinator of the OSCE short-term mission, noted the good organization of the elections in Georgia, but also reported on a number of violations recorded by the OSCE observers.

Salome Zurabishvili, who supports the pro-European opposition despite the fact that the constitution requires the president to be non-partisan, called for protests over the election results.

On November 28, a new series of opposition protests began in Georgia after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced his decision to postpone consideration of the issue of starting negotiations on the country's accession to the European Union until 2028. The protesters used firecrackers, stones and bottles. Molotov cocktail bottles were also found. In response, the security forces used special equipment, including water cannons.

Volodymyr Zelensky's term of office ended on May 20. The presidential elections in Ukraine in 2024 were canceled due to martial law and general mobilization. Zelensky said that the elections are now inappropriate.
