Iran Constructs a Secure Wall on the Border with Afghanistan to Enhance Safety
The Commander of Iran’s Northeastern Ground Forces, Siros Amanollahi, announced that the border closure project with Afghanistan began in May 2024 and is expected to be completed within three years.

As part of this initiative, a 300-kilometer-long wall will be constructed, with four engineering groups from Iran’s ground forces responsible for its implementation. The Iranian government has allocated three billion euros for this project.

The wall will be four meters high and equipped with surveillance systems powered by artificial intelligence technology. Additionally, warning radars and drones will be used for continuous monitoring of border areas. So far, 80 kilometers of the wall have been completed.

Amir Gholamalian, Commander of the Southeastern Regional Headquarters of Iran’s Army, stated that these security measures involve not only physical barriers but also modern technological solutions.

The Afghan government, particularly the Islamic Emirate’s representative Zabihullah Mujahid, has expressed a conciliatory stance on these measures. He emphasized that the project is being implemented in coordination with Afghanistan and respects Iran’s internal affairs.

Mujahid also assured neighboring countries that no threats originate from Afghan territory.
