World
An extreme heatwave continues to grip the Middle East and Central Asia, setting new temperature records. Iran has recorded the world's highest air temperature since the beginning of 2026, reaching +52.1°C.
According to IRNA, the new record was registered on July 14 at a weather station in Fars Province. The figure surpassed the previous global high of +51.5°C, recorded on July 12 in the Iranian city of Dehloran.
Forecasters say the intense heatwave is expected to persist across the region. In the coming days, temperatures in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan could rise to as high as +46°C.
Experts advise people to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated, and take extra precautions during the hottest hours of the day.
