Iran Tightens Control Over Shipping

The Iranian Defense Council announced new security protocols for international shipping in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. According to the document, the right to safely pass through this crucial oil artery now directly depends on coordination with Iranian authorities.

Iran Tightens Control Over Shipping
"Countries not involved in the conflict must undergo full coordination with the competent Iranian authorities to ensure the safety of their vessels," the statement said.

The council emphasized that in the event of any aggression against Iranian islands or the coastline, the military will carry out large-scale mining of all approaches and communication lines in the region. Modern naval mines, including floating mines deployed from the shore, will be used.

If this scenario is implemented, the Persian Gulf could effectively become a closed zone for an extended period, and all consequences, including the blockage of international shipping, will be the responsibility of the threat initiator.

Previously, Iran had already warned that it would mine all maritime routes if the U.S. attacked its coast or islands. Later, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he participated in talks with Iran over the past two days and postponed potential strikes for five days.
