Israel Expands Barrier System Inside the Gaza Strip

Israel is continuing to reinforce the areas it controls in the Gaza Strip by constructing an extensive system of earth barriers. According to the Associated Press, the fortifications now extend for more than 23 kilometers, with construction continuing across several parts of the enclave.
Based on an analysis of satellite imagery, the embankments run along the so-called "Yellow Line", separating territory controlled by the Israeli military from the rest of the Gaza Strip. In some locations, the barriers pass through heavily damaged Palestinian communities and continue to expand.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that the physical barrier is being built as part of a security zone equipped with surveillance and intelligence systems. According to the military, the fortifications are intended to prevent armed infiltrations and protect both Israeli troops and nearby border communities.
AP reported that construction has been particularly intensive in southern Gaza, where sections of the barrier have expanded rapidly in recent weeks. Similar fortifications have also appeared in the northern part of the enclave.
Israel currently controls more than half of the Gaza Strip. According to the agency, a large share of the Palestinian population has been displaced to the coastal area west of the "Yellow Line", where many remain in tent camps and depend on humanitarian assistance. Israeli officials state that the engineering works are aimed at dismantling Hamas infrastructure and strengthening security in the area.
