The Israeli army said it accidentally shelled an Egyptian army position in the Kerem Abu Salim neighbourhood near the Egyptian border. This was reported by Anadolu.
In a written statement, an Israeli army spokesperson said, "Some time ago, an Israeli army tank mistakenly fired at an Egyptian army position in the Kerem Shalom (Kerem Abu Salim) area near the border."
A statement announcing the launch of an investigation said that "the incident is regrettable."
