An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck in the Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, according to the National Meteorological Administration of the country.

According to the data, the epicentre of the earthquake was located in the Noto Peninsula area, and its focus was at a depth of 10 kilometres.

There is no information about casualties or damage yet. Although a warning of a possible tsunami threat was issued, it was cancelled shortly after the earthquake. Remarkably, another earthquake of the same magnitude occurred in the same area 10 minutes after the initial one.

It is worth reminding that on January 1 of the current year, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 occurred in the Noto region of Japan. This is the strongest earthquake in the Sea of Japan since 1983. According to the administration of the Ishikawa Prefecture, the number of casualties has reached 202.
