Japan's earthquake death toll rises to 168

According to the latest data, the death toll from the earthquakes on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan has risen to 168. Days earlier it was known about 128 dead, as well as 103 missing.
In addition, a series of earthquakes in Japan on 1 January left more than 600 people injured. It was the first time since 2016 that the number of casualties exceeded 100 people.
The earthquakes caused the destruction of roads and bridges, leaving more than 2.3 thousand people isolated from communications. A tsunami was also recorded in some areas with wave heights of up to 4.2 metres on the coast.
