It was noted that with the new systems, real-time data on the status of each hydropost, the volume of water, and its flow will be collected. This, in turn, is necessary to prevent disputes over water resources between the countries and ensure fair distribution.

The two countries have identified 10 areas in the Syr Darya River basin. Five of these areas are located in Uzbekistan, and the remaining five are in Kazakhstan. Automated water accounting systems will be installed in these areas, making water resource accounting more transparent and accurate.

Currently, the countries are negotiating with international financial organizations. The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) is working on a comprehensive technical assignment for the project. The technical solutions developed by GIZ will help improve the efficiency of the two countries' water management systems.

Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Nurlan Aldamzharov, emphasized that only the first 10 areas have been identified in the project. However, in the future, all major hydroposts will be automated, ensuring complete transparency in water accounting. According to Aldamzharov, negotiations are being promoted not only with Uzbekistan but also with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to implement the system in these countries.
