Kyodo: Japan to help Ukraine in demining and cyber security
The Japanese government plans to provide assistance to Ukraine in the field of demining and cyber security. This is reported by the Kyodo agency.

It is noted that Tokyo may join the assistance programme initiated by a group of countries supporting Kiev. It is about the so-called contact group on the defence of Ukraine, which works under the chairmanship of the United States.

The programme of assistance to Kiev in demining was initiated by Lithuania. In July, Lithuania proposed that the countries that have the possibility to send to Ukraine the funds needed for demining and to train Ukrainian fighters as deminers join the coalition and send specialists to Ukraine to demine the territories.

Tokyo has reportedly previously assisted Kiev in demining. Japan handed over to Ukraine four ALIS devices, which allow accurate mine detection, as well as 50 metal detectors. In addition, Ukrainian specialists have previously received demining training in Japan and Cambodia.

So far, the Japanese government has provided Ukraine with humanitarian, food, financial and other assistance worth over 7.6bn dollars.
