On June 4, the victory of liberal opposition leader Lee Jae-myung was officially confirmed in South Korea. He received 49.3% of the vote after counting more than 99% of the ballots. His main opponent, the conservative Kim Moon-soo, received 41.3% and publicly admitted defeat, stating that he "modestly accepts the people's choice."

Election attendance was about 80% of 44.4 million voters, making it one of the highest figures in the country's history. Voters' high interest was fueled by the prolonged political crisis following the short-term martial law imposed by former President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was subsequently removed from power.
