US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Uzbekistan in mid-October, leading a business delegation that will include representatives of more than 100 American companies. The visit will take place in Samarkand and focus on strengthening economic and diplomatic ties between the United States and Central Asia. US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor announced the visit and described it as “historic.”
During the visit, Rubio will participate in a C5+1 ministerial meeting with foreign ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
According to the US side, the discussions will focus on deepening regional economic connectivity, strengthening energy security and advancing joint solutions to shared priorities across Central Asia.
The US secretary of state will also meet with Uzbekistan’s leadership and representatives of other countries in the region. The talks are expected to address expanding trade, attracting private-sector investment and supporting economic modernization in Central Asia.
The visit comes amid expanding trade and investment cooperation between the United States and Uzbekistan. In April 2026, the two countries officially launched the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council as a platform for strengthening bilateral economic ties.
