Even after the resignation of Haiti's Prime Minister Ariel Henry on 12 March this year, the situation in the country remains extremely turbulent.
Armed gangs control parts of the capital and important transport routes, seize government offices, loot and engage in shootouts with the police. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes and there are severe food shortages.
"All this anarchy is not a surprise to anyone, because Haiti has been at the top of the list of failed states for years. […] But the worst thing is not even the lack of widespread interest in what is happening in Haiti, but the fact that the area of instability in the world is constantly expanding - which is becoming a global problem. And the attempts by various institutions to obscure this fact only exacerbate the situation," Diena said.
