Melon Festival to be held in Khiva

In order to widely promote the tourism potential of our country and increase the number of foreign and local tourists visiting the Khorezm region, from August 9 to 11, the “Melon Festival” festival is being organized on the territory of the State Museum-Reserve “Ichan Kala” in Khiva.

The festival will include demonstrations of the agrotourism potential of our country, an exhibition of agricultural products, performances by folklore groups, concert programs, a display of works of fine art, an exhibition of handicrafts, folk games and much more.

Also, the regional khokimiyat will present diplomas, letters of gratitude and memorable gifts to the winners and prize-winners of the “Melon Festival” festival in such nominations as “For achieving the highest income and productivity in melon growing”, “For the revival of ancient traditional Khorezm melon varieties”, “For the introduction of innovative technologies in melon growing" and "The area where the largest number of types of melons are grown."

Uzbekistan has the largest melon fields in Central Asia. The best melons in the world grow in Uzbekistan. Melons can weigh from 2kg to 30kg, depending on the variety.

It is worth noting that on 31 May, 2024, the meeting of the Coordination Committee on Tourism took place in Khiva with the participation of representatives from OIC member states, including Türkiye, Senegal, Somalia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Maldives, Oman, UAE, and several other countries.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), founded on 25 September 1969 at a conference of Muslim heads of state in Rabat, is the largest and most influential official governmental Muslim international organisation.
