Anisimov provided Forbes with documents according to which he renounced Russian citizenship back in September 2022.

It is noted that many businessmen, including billionaires from the Forbes list, renounced Russian citizenship after the start of the war. Among them are former banker Oleg Tinkov and the creator of the Revolut payment service Nikolay Storonsky, as well as the ex-head of Troika Dialog Ruben Vardanian, who headed the government of Nagorno-Karabakh and is currently in custody in Azerbaijan.
