Uzbekistan
The large-scale modernization of Uzbekistan's transport infrastructure via public-private partnership mechanisms is entering an active phase, capturing unprecedented traction from the leading entities of the global capital market. The Interdepartmental Tender Commission has officially concluded the initial Request for Qualifications (RFQ) stage within the international tender for the design, construction, and management of the new Bukhara International Airport under a PPP model. Spanning from March 11 to May 21, 2026, this qualification phase generated significant momentum within the professional sector, drawing expressions of interest and formal submissions from 51 enterprises across the globe, including consortia from the United Kingdom, EU nations, Canada, China, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Japan, alongside domestic entities.
Following a comprehensive three-stage assessment that thoroughly examined the legal, technical, and financial competencies of the applicants, the commission finalized a rigorous shortlist consisting of six highly qualified international corporations. These selected finalists have been cleared to advance to the second round—the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage. The venture is being jointly executed by Uzbekistan Airports JSC, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Economy and Finances of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The legal and strategic framework enabling this competitive process is anchored in Presidential Decree No. PP-308 dated August 30, 2024, designed to thoroughly accelerate the country's transport and logistics capacity by leveraging long-term private funding.
