Orion on its way: historic lunar flight begins
The U.S. space agency NASA has successfully launched the Artemis II crewed mission to the Moon. The launch took place from Florida at 01:35 Moscow time.

The Orion spacecraft spacecraft, carrying four astronauts, is on a 10-day journey. It will fly around the Moon and return to Earth without landing.

Shortly before launch, engineers detected a technical issue, but it was quickly resolved, allowing the mission to proceed as planned.

Artemis II is the first crewed lunar mission in 54 years, following the last mission in December 1972 under the Apollo program.

The mission is seen as a crucial step toward future human landings on the Moon and deeper space exploration.
