More than 180 parliamentary candidates in France have withdrawn from the elections to combat Marine Le Pen's far-right party, National Rally, reports Le Monde.
It is noted that 185 candidates for parliamentary seats from President Emmanuel Macron's coalition "Together for the Republic" and the leftist bloc "New People's Front" have withdrawn their candidacies to prevent the right-wing party from securing a majority.
The first round of elections to the French National Assembly took place on June 30. Following the voting, Marine Le Pen's party, National Rally, is leading. The "New People's Front" is in second place with 29.1%. In third place is President Emmanuel Macron's coalition, which received 21.5% of the votes.
