Oybek Usmanov Appointed as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan

Diplomat Oybek Usmanov, aged 62, has been appointed as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology and Oriental Studies at Tashkent State University and previously served as the ambassador to Pakistan from 2020 to 2024.
Since 1998, Usmanov has worked within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, holding various roles in the central office and in Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions abroad.
In 2011-2012, Oybek Usmanov served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. Before his appointment as ambassador to Afghanistan, he held ambassadorial roles in Egypt and Pakistan.
