In a live televised address on Tuesday, President Yoon declared, “I will rebuild South Korea’s free and democratic society by eliminating the threats from North Korea’s communist forces and anti-state elements.”

The commander overseeing martial law in South Korea announced the suspension of parliamentary and political party activities. Additionally, control over all media outlets in the country was imposed. Local media reported helicopters flying over Seoul, barriers erected in front of the National Assembly building, and special military equipment moving on city streets.

Early Wednesday morning, December 4, President Yoon Suk Yeol announced the termination of the martial law regime. Shortly after, a resolution to end martial law was passed, and military personnel withdrew from the National Assembly building, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in South Korea issued an official statement urging citizens to remain vigilant amid the "tense situation": “As you know, martial law was declared in South Korea on December 3. Given the current internal political situation, we urge all of you to refrain from participating in rallies and demonstrations, avoid crowded places, and take care of your personal safety and health,” reads the statement from the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea.
