President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is chairing a meeting on the socio-economic development of Surkhandarya region in the city of Termez.

"I came to Surkhandarya for the third time this year with very great intentions and clear plans for our people to live well and for their burden to be light," the head of state said.

Yesterday, the President familiarised himself in detail with four new major industrial projects worth $3.3 billion in Surkhandarya province. In particular, in connection with the commissioning of the nearly $3 billion gas-chemical complex in Boysun:

─ 5 billion cubic metres of gas will be purified per year, natural gas and sulphur worth 6 trillion sums will be produced;

─ an average annual export income of $120 million will be added to the region;

─ geological exploration will be expanded, another 100 billion cubic metres of gas will be discovered, and in 2-3 years our country will achieve full oil independence;

─ 7000 people are now working in this complex. On the instructions of the President, cooperation will be established around the complex, and at least 2,000 high-income jobs will be created for residents of neighbouring districts.

A power plant with a capacity of 85 megawatts has also been built here. It produces electricity not only for the needs of the complex, but also enough for the entire population of Boysun.
