President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has participated in a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State. During the event, they discussed the most important aspects of cooperation within the Commonwealth.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has attended a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Bishkek. The summit proposed new initiatives to develop cooperation within the CIS, including stimulating economic growth, updating food security programmes and strengthening transport interconnectivity.

Importance of co-operation within the CIS: President Mirziyoyev expressed his belief in the importance of using the CIS as a platform for co-ordinating measures and assessing opportunities in various areas of co-operation.

Economic Growth and Free Trade: The leader of Uzbekistan emphasised the need to ensure sustainable economic growth in the Commonwealth countries and suggested revising the provisions of the Free Trade Agreement.

Stimulating investment and innovation: The President of Uzbekistan initiated the development of measures to stimulate mutual investments and promote innovation projects in the CIS countries.

Environmental challenges: Attention was drawn to the importance of joint efforts in combating climate change. Readiness to organise a special session at the International Climate Forum in Samarkand was declared.

Humanitarian and cultural initiatives: President Mirziyoyev proposed to hold the CIS Culture, Art and Cinema Week in Samarkand, as well as to organise a number of youth events, including a football tournament and educational activities.

The Summit concluded with the adoption of important agreements and decisions aimed at strengthening co-operation within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
