Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan emphasize the importance of expanding strategic partnership

On November 17, negotiations were held between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in a narrow format at the Kuksaroy Residence.
It was emphasized that the current state visit will become a significant step toward further strengthening the Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership, which have become exemplary in recent years.
Positive dynamics and active contacts in all areas were noted with satisfaction. Meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, as well as joint cultural events, are held on a regular basis. On the eve of the visit, the Days of Culture and Cinema of Turkmenistan took place with great success in Urgench and Tashkent.
Last year, trade turnover exceeded $1 billion. The volume of freight transportation is growing, including through the port of Turkmenbashi.
Particular attention was paid to increasing mutual trade and promoting effective cooperation in industry, energy, transport, mechanical engineering, agriculture, and water management.
The importance of further expanding interregional exchanges was noted and an agreement was reached to hold the third Forum of Regions in the city of Khiva.
The heads of state also exchanged views on issues on the regional and international agenda.
