Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan summarize the results productive negotiations

Following high-level talks at the Kuksaroy Residence, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made statements for the media representatives.
The Head of our state expressed confidence that this historic state visit will further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries and elevate it to new heights.
During the talks, priorities for joint work were identified in the political, trade, economic, transport, water, energy, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
The expansion of trade, economic and cooperation ties was identified as a key area.
Trade turnover has nearly doubled in recent years, exceeding $1 billion. The goal has been set to increase its volume to $2 billion, primarily through expanding the product range and increasing mutual supplies.
The “Shavat-Dashoguz” border trade zone, launched today, plays a special role in this. The parties intend to apply this experience to other border territories, particularly in the “Alat-Farap” area.
To enhance the region’s transport connectivity, the governments have been instructed to prepare proposals for the development of road, rail, and sea transport, and the joint use of the Turkmenbashi international seaport.
Particular attention was paid to energy issues. Commitment was reaffirmed to further deepen cooperation in the supply and transit of electricity and the implementation of joint projects in both countries.
The parties will enhance cooperation in environmental protection and rational water use, including within the Central Asian region.
Interregional cooperation was identified as another priority area. Regional forums have been successfully held in Bukhara and Turkmenabad. The third forum, involving all regions of both countries, will soon take place in Khiva.
The successful holding of the Days of Turkmen culture in Urgench and Tashkent was noted with satisfaction. An agreement was reached to regularly hold concerts and theater tours, forums for youth and the academic community, educational and sports olympiads.
The parties also agreed to promote practical cooperation in healthcare and medical science.
Significant progress has been made in deepening regional cooperation within the framework of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan.
Confidence was expressed that the outcomes of the seventh Consultative Meeting, held yesterday in Tashkent, will contribute to integration processes and strengthen unity in the region.
The importance of continuing the practice of mutual support within the United Nations and other international structures was also emphasized.
In conclusion, a mutual strong commitment to the dynamic development of cooperation and the achievement of breakthrough results for the progress and prosperity of our brotherly countries was reaffirmed.
