Putin Claims Success in 15 Sectors While Kyiv and West Report Russia's Loss of Initiative

The latest cycle of confrontation in the information sphere has exposed deep discrepancies in the assessment of the operational and tactical situation between the Russian leadership and international observers. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin, claimed that Russian forces are successfully advancing in 15 frontline sectors and stated he was unaware of any territories being reclaimed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). According to the Russian leader, units of the Southern Group of Forces control 96% of Konstantinovka, have entered Nikolaevka, and remain approximately 8-9 kilometers from Sloviansk.
Putin also reported the imminent completion of operations in Krasny Liman, where only 149 houses remain to be cleared, alongside daily advances of up to 1,300 meters in the Zaporizhzhia direction and a reduction of the distance to the city of Sumy to 10.5 kilometers.
Meanwhile, alternative sources, including BBC military correspondents and Western analysts, present a fundamentally different picture of the hostilities. According to Ukrainian military personnel, Konstantinovka has almost entirely transitioned into a "grey zone" controlled by neither side. Foreign politicians and media increasingly point to a "turning point" in the conflict, emphasizing that the AFU has managed to significantly decelerate Russia's offensive momentum and intensify strikes against rear logistics. This stance is echoed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who noted that the Russian military has lost the initiative in most of the 12 previously active directions, consolidating its remaining resources into only two or three sectors.
