Putin's Visit and "Precious" Ties: Outcomes of Emergency Talks Between Lavrov and Xi Jinping
Sergey Lavrov's talks with PRC President Xi Jinping and Foreign Minister Wang Yi confirmed the special status of bilateral relations. According to Lavrov, Russia is capable of filling the gap in energy resources not only for China but also for other partners ready for mutually beneficial cooperation. The Minister emphasized that the current chaos in the Middle East is forcing nations to seek alternative supply routes independent of the foreign policy aggression of the US and Israel. Xi Jinping, in turn, described ties with Moscow as "especially precious" amidst global instability.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the preparation for two visits by Vladimir Putin to China in 2026. The first trip is scheduled for the end of the first half of the year, while the second may take place during the APEC summit in November. In light of these events, Lavrov noted a growing rift in Europe: some EU officials are already calling on Brussels to postpone plans for a full rejection of Russian energy supplies, recognizing the risks of a global shortage.
